JOSEPH D'AMICO Obituary
Joseph J. D'Amico, Sr.
Age 52 of Avondale, PA, passed away at his residence on Saturday, January 17, 2009. He was the husband of Louise Mundy D'Amico, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage.
Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of Evelyn Twaddell D'Amico of Avondale, PA, and the late Anthony J. D'Amico. He was the Founder and Owner of To-Jo Mushroom in Avondale, PA, and a 3rd generation Mushroom Grower. He was well respected among his peers in the Mushroom industry. Joe was a Founding member of St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church in Avondale, PA. He was a member of the Knights of Colombus, where he was a 3rd degree Knight. He loved being with his family and friends, and his greatest passion was watching his children play sports and feeding the whole crowd after the event.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by 2 sons, Anthony J. D'Amico II and his wife Megan of Landenberg, PA and Joseph J. D'Amico, Jr. and his wife Becky of Landenberg, PA; 1 daughter, Anita D'Amico and Scott Barber of Avondale, PA,; 2 grandchildren, Tiara D'Amico and Alexa D'Amico; 1 brother, John D'Amico of Avondale, PA; 5 sisters, Theresa McMillan of West Grove, PA, Angela Miller of West Grove, PA, Elaine Wright of Avondale, PA, Deanna D'Amico of Avondale, PA and Deb D'Amico of Newark, DE.
The family would especially like to thank the many caregivers, doctors, and friends who helped Joe and his family during this difficult time. We are forever grateful.
You are invited to visit with Joe's family and friends, from 5-9 pm, on Tuesday, January 20, and again on Wednesday January 21, from 10-11 am, at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church, 8910 Gap Newport Pike (Route 41), Avondale, PA. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11 am. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Joseph J. D'Amico Scholarship Fund, c/o National Penn Bank - New Garden - 920 W. Cypress St. Kennett Square, PA 19348.
